  A bit of a Fabian, Orwellian tinge to that Mass Observation group, wouldn’t you say? Evokes featureless winter afternoons in the Midlands, women in scarves pushing prams across the cobblestones stalked by officious social engineers with clipboards . Not to mention the conceit of treating a class of people as if it were a species of wild animal in its natural habitat.
